My master’s student (Sandra) is presenting a short talk about her work at the 38th Conference of Research and Development (CIDTEC) by Tecnologico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, January 23-25, 2008.
The Archaeological Project in Sayula River Basin (PACS) whose primary purpose is to understand the socio-cultural development of prehistoric peoples settled in western Mexico , sociocultural analyzes information of the area through a regional approach , considers the watershed as a universe of study not arbitrary , bounded geographically and culturally well defined taking into account their integration into networks of exchange and interaction of western Mexico and other areas of Mesoamerica. The correlation time, space and culture in archaeological contexts , can give more substance to the occupations of the basin, providing a coherent view of the divisions or internal changes within each time period. The problem to solve was to design an information system for managing archaeological sites Sayula basin, obtaining as a final product a model that can be implemented, which once made, automate and manage the information gathered. The development of a system of this nature has a direct impact on increased productivity, reduced material costs by automating manual tasks so far been conducted , providing completely new skills to execute tasks and functions, and reducing the level of frustration user compared to the current working form, considering that this information will be concentrated in one place, anyone working group will be able to access it quickly and you can get the reports in a timely and reliable. The resulting information system , and even the performance of other systems, are integrated with the project called ” Environmental and Cultural Atlas Basin Sayula ” which is currently in process and is coordinated by the Academic Department of Geography at the university Center for Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Guadalajara (CUCSH – UDG) , which aims to develop a multimedia product that allows to integrate, analyze and synthesize the territory “Sayula River Basin”, combining the time variables , attributes and locations.
